How to Tell If You Have a CarbonPro Bed

Buying a tonneau cover for your GMC Sierra 1500? You'll need to know if you have a standard steel bed or a CarbonPro bed before ordering — most major brands sell CarbonPro-specific versions, and the wrong one won't fit right.

Does Your Truck Even Qualify?

CarbonPro is only available on:

  • 2020 to current GMC Sierra 1500
  • 5'8" Short Bed only (not the 6'6" or 8' beds)
  • Select trims (Denali, AT4, AT4X, Denali Ultimate)

If your truck doesn't match all three, you have a standard steel bed or a Spray In Bed Liner.

The Easiest Way to Check

Drop the tailgate and look at the front wall of the bed, just above the GMC logo.

If you see three notches cut into the top edge, you have a CarbonPro bed. A standard steel bed will be smooth and flat across the top.

Other Tells

  • Bed floor: CarbonPro has a deep ribbed pattern molded into the floor with "GMC" stamped at the front
  • No spray in bed liner: CarbonPro beds don't need one — the composite is the surface
  • Wheel wells: Contoured indentations designed to cradle motorcycle tires

Still Not Sure?

Snap a photo of the inside of your bed and send it to us before you order — we'll confirm your bed type so you get the right cover the first time.
